The Prime Minister confirms Latvia’s readiness to joint the Euro-Plus–Pact |
 On March 24-25, the European Council meeting was held. During the meeting the Heads of State and Government of the European Union (EU) countries discussed the economic situation in the EU and agreed on the measures to retain financial stability and promote economic growth, as well as discussed the situation in Japan and in the southern neighbouring region of the European Union, particularly in Libya. |

The Prime Minister will meet EU Commissioner for Climate Connie Hedegaard |
| On Monday, March 28, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis will meet EU Commissioner for Climate Connie Hedegaard. During the meeting the sides plan to discuss the issues relating to reduction of carbon emissions by 2050, the opportunities for attaining the objectives of the strategy ”Europe 2020”, as well as next multiannual financial framework of the European Union and climate policy funding. |

The Prime Minister will participate in the European Council in Brussels |
| On Thursday, March 24, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis will leave for Brussels to participate in the European Council meeting. The Heads of State and Government of the European Union (EU) countries will discuss the issues related to the EU economic governance and the eurozone stability, as well as current developments in Libya and Japan. |

On Monday, March 28, in Rīga, during the meeting Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis and EU Commissioner for Climate Connie Hedegaard discussed the issues relating to reduction of carbon emissions by 2050, the opportunities for attaining the objectives of the Europe 2020 strategy, next multiannual financial framework of the European Union, as well as funding of the climate policy.
On March 23, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis held a meeting with President of the European Confederation of Police Hans Kiefer and representatives of the delegation. During the meeting, the sides discussed the situation in the interior system in Latvia and Latvia’s capability to ensure security at national and the European Union level. 
On Friday, March 18, Prime Minister Dombrovskis paid a visit to the capital city of Lithuania – Vilnius, met Prime Minister of Lithuania Andrius Kubilius and participated in the conference organized by the Baltic Corporate Governance Institute. 
On March 17, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis visited the embassy of Japan in Rīga and signed the book of condolences on the occasion of the earthquake and tsunami which hit Japan on March 11.
