On Tuesday 7 June, Prime Minister Māris Kučinskis met Prime Minister of Estonia, Taavi Rõivas in Tallinn. During the meeting, the Heads of Government discusssed economic cooperation between the two countries.

M. Kučinskis and  T. Rõivas agreed that with regard to the Rail Baltica project, the trilateral intergovernmental agreement must be drawn up and signed as soon as possible, thus demonstrating the commitment of the Batic States to implement this project.

At the meeting, the Prime Ministers also discussed the upcoming Warsaw NATO Summit to be held in July and expressed hope that the Summit will adopt decisions that are favourable to the Baltic States, as well as support for the increased presence of NATO forces in the region.

M. Kučinskis and  T. Rõivas considered support for the Eastern Partnership countries. Both M. Kučinskis and  T. Rõivas vigorously confirmed the need to decide on a visa-free regime with the Eastern Partnership countries that have fulfilled the necessary criteria: Ukraine and Georgia.

As previously reported, M. Kučinskis is paying a visit to Tallinn to meet the Estonian Prime Minister T. Rõivas, participate in the meeting of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and visit the Digital Governance Exhibition Centre (e-Estonia showroom).
