On Friday, November 4, Prime Minister Māris Kučinskis welcomed the Prime Minister of the People's Republic of China, Li Keqiang, in Riga. The welcoming ceremony took place at the Monument of Freedom which was followed by a bilateral meeting of both high officials in the Cabinet of Ministers.

Li Keqiang has arrived on an official meeting to Riga and afterwards will participate in the 16+1 Summit of Central and Eastern European countries and China. This is the first visit of the Prime Minister of China to Latvia.

The expected plan during the bilateral meeting of the state officials is to discuss issues regarding cooperation between Latvia and China in the fields of transport, logistics, trade, tourism and education.

It is also expected that, within the framework of the visit, representatives of the governments of Latvia and China will sign cooperation memoranda in different fields important for the national economy.
