The main objective of the Committee of Regions is representation of interests of local governments and regional authorities in the Community. Similarly to European Economic and Social Committee, the Committee of Regions is consulted on upcoming EU decisions of the Council of the EU and the Commission, when such consultation is prescribed by the EU Treaty or in other cases, in particular, with regard to cross-border cooperation.
