Easy to use on any device, understandable and accessible to everyone - from 23 July, the State Chancellery invites everyone to get acquainted with the first pilot project websites of public administrations with a unified design. These new, more secure and more easily accessible websites of a unified design will allow every inhabitant of Latvia to easily and conveniently find the necessary information and communicate with state and local government institutions; moreover, they will meet the highest security and accessibility standards.

On Thursday, 16 July, Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš, during the first meeting with Juris Stukāns, the new Prosecutor General, discussed issues relevant to the justice system and the Prosecutor General's priorities upon taking office. During the conversation, the Prime Minister confirmed that the government will cooperate with the Prosecutor General in order to strengthen the rule of law in the country.

Today, on 14 July, at the sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers, amendments to the regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers were approved, determining procedures for the organisation and payment of health care services* and stipulating the gradual start of financing enteral** and parenteral*** feeding mixtures for adult patients from the state budget.

Today, on 10 July, Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš established a Steering Group for the Coordination of Inter-institutional Activities, whose task is to ensure the implementation of the Law on the Management of the Spread of COVID-19 Infection by coordinating the activities of all institutions related to limiting the spread of COVID-19 in Latvia.

The Cabinet of Ministers adopted important decisions, at its extraordinary meeting of 9 April, which facilitate the provision of medical devices and personal protective equipment, as well as set out new measures in the fields of education and control of the spread of Covid-19.

The government is continuing its efforts to reduce the spread of Covid-19 and prevent the associated risks. The Cabinet of Ministers has extended the duration of emergency situation, and has adopted a number of decisions in addition to already effective measures, thereby ensuring the work and cooperation between the State, local governments and other service providers during the crisis. Decisions on the extension of restrictions have been taken in accordance with the recommendations of epidemiologists, and aim to protect public health and security.

In order to minimise the risk of further spread of Covid-19 among Latvian residents, the Government has adopted stricter rules to limit the assembly of people at private and public events and other restrictions. Restrictions regarding physical contact apply to public indoor and outdoor activities and lay down the rules in respect of a distance of two metres and two persons.
