On Wednesday, 4 September, in response to the aggravation of the epidemiological situation and the increase in the incidence of Covid-19 in Lithuania and Estonia, the Cabinet improved the legal framework governing the mobility of persons between neighbouring countries.
Considering the close integration between Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, through special conditions, the government exempted those persons who work, study or attend kindergarten on a daily basis in any of the neighbouring countries, from 14-day self-isolation. Persons accompanying a minor or an adult student with special needs shall also be exempted from self-isolation. All groups of persons will be required to present appropriate certificates.
Besides, persons who are in transit, provide care for relatives, participate or organise funerals or return to Latvia after the receipt of a health care service prescribed by a doctor will not be subject to self-isolation.
In all the above-mentioned cases, persons will have to take precautions and use mouth and nose covers in public places. Persons will be allowed to visit shops, but will not be allowed to receive guests and visit social and public places, as well as rooms with a large number of people. An exception is a place of work, or a place, the visiting of which is the purpose of entering Latvia.
