On Tuesday 17 April, the Commission for the Selection of the Head of the Office for Prevention of Laundering of Proceeds Derived from Criminal Activity has completed work on the evaluation of the candidates. The adoption of a decision - who will head the Control Service – falls within the competence of the Prosecutor General.
The Commission has evaluated four candidates in the second round of the competition, and will submit an opinion on the evaluation of the applicants to the Prosecutor General. The supervisor of the Control Service may invite the applicants to conversation before taking a decision on the appointment. In the second round of the competition, the motivation of all candidates, who met the requirements, to take up this position and their vision of the institution's priorities and development were assessed. In the second round, the management competencies, communication and presentation skills were also evaluated.
Four of the nine applicants, who met the qualification, education and professional experience requirements, were advanced to the second round of the competition.
As previously informed, in the agreement with Prosecutor General Ēriks Kalnmeiers, Prime Minister Māris Kučinskis commissioned the State Chancellery to conduct this recruitment competition, taking into account the previous positive experience in the selection of directors of direct public administration institutions, as well as in organizing the selection of candidates for the position of the head of the KNAB.
Nine applications were received by March 20 this year, which was the deadline for the submission of applications.
The Commission is chaired by the Director of the State Chancellery Jānis Citskovskis. The Commission is also composed of the representatives of the General Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Finance, the Financial and Capital Market Commission, the Security Police, the Constitution Protection Bureau and the Bank of Latvia.
