NATO Prime Minister
Evika Siliņa un Marks Rute sarokojas Ministru kabinetā

"Latvia continues to invest in defence and to provide long-term and predictable support to Ukraine", emphasised Prime Minister Evika Siliņa during her meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on 14 November.

The Prime Minister and NATO Secretary General addressed the strengthening of security and defence of Latvia and NATO, the support to Ukraine, as well as cooperation between the European Union and NATO.

"Latvia's role in NATO has become increasingly important over the 20 years since joining the Alliance. The NATO Multinational Combat Brigade in Latvia, where soldiers from Latvia and 13 Allies serve shoulder to shoulder, serves as an example of excellent cooperation between the NATO countries and is a clear signal of our deterrence capabilities. Through our anticipated long-term support to Ukraine and commitment to increased investment in defence, we can set an example for other European countries. In cooperation with NATO, we will strive to further modernise our defence infrastructure and strengthen our defence and deterrence capabilities," underlines E. Siliņa.

Today, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte is paying his first visit to Latvia. Mark Rutte attended Exercise Resolute Warrior 24 of the NATO Multinational Brigade in the Ādaži Military Base.
