Prime Minister Support for Ukraine
Ministru prezidente Evika Siliņa saka runu pie Brīvības pieminekļa

In commemoration of three years since Russia launched the war in Ukraine, Prime Minister Evika Siliņa calls on the people of Latvia to continue supporting Ukraine and stresses that Russia's aggression can be won.

"Today more than ever, we need to be strong and united - both in Latvia and among European countries," said E. Siliņa in her address in support of Ukraine. "I also emphasise this in negotiations with European leaders, who are increasingly listening to us. Ukraine’s struggle for freedom and independence is vital for the security of Europe as a whole." Europe is now investing substantially more in defence and rapidly developing its own military capabilities.

The Prime Minister extended gratitude to non-governmental organisations, businesses, volunteers, donors, police officers, border guards, teachers, everyone who has devoted their time and resources to help Ukrainians be stronger in the face of Russia’s aggression. While acknowledging the efforts already made, E. Siliņa calls on the people of Latvia to further support Ukraine.

Prime Minister: "It has been three years since Russia attacked Ukraine. Three tough years for Ukrainians, defending their country and their countrymen, and fighting for freedom. These three years have also proven that Russia's aggression can be won. Russia has failed to achieve in three years what it had intended to do in three days."

E. Siliņa points out that peace in Ukraine must be just and sustainable. "Any negotiations on the future of Ukraine must be held with its participation," underlined the Prime Minister. "Let us stay together with Ukraine!"
