On Wednesday 23 October, Prime Minister Evika Siliņa met with Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
During the meeting, the two officials discussed Latvia's support to Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s aggression, Ukraine's victory plan, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented to European leaders at the European Council a week ago, and the path towards accession to the European Union (EU) and NATO.
"Latvia will continue to support Ukraine militarily, politically, economically and humanely until its victory over Russia’s aggression. The outcome of war must be a just peace. Ukraine's victory is possible if international partners provide decisive support. Latvia will therefore continue to support Ukraine's interests internationally, including in the EU, NATO and the UN. At European level, we continue to push for tougher sanctions against aggressor countries. Russia's crimes against the people of Ukraine must not be left unpunished," emphasizes E. Siliņa.
The Prime Minister has met with the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada on several occasions. The last meeting took place in September this year in Kyiv, during E. Siliņa's visit to Ukraine.
R. Stefanchuk is paying a visit to Latvia to attend the Third Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform.
