On Tuesday 4 April, Jānis Citskovskis, former Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior was appointed to the post of Director of the State Chancellery. The new Director of the State Chancellery will assume office on 7 April.
J. Citskovskis has had a long work experience in the system of the Ministry of the Interior – he has been the Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior over the last two years, but before that - the Deputy Head of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs for nine years. He has also built up professional experience by heading the Legal Department of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs and at management level at the Population Register Department and the Customer Service Division of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs.
The new Director of the State Chancellery points out, "We have to proceed along the path towards reforms in the public administration to develop an efficient and modern public administration that work for the common good and employs capable and motivated people".
J. Citskovskis holds a Master of Laws and a lawyer's qualification from the University of Latvia, as well as a Master of Engineering in Transport and Traffic from the Riga Technical University.
The new Director of the State Chancellery has been awarded the Golden Badge of Honour of the Ministry of the Interior, the Golden Badge of Honour "For Merits" (1st Class) of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs, as well as the Award Sign of the State Border Guard "For Merits in the Development of the State Border Guard".
