During today's meeting with Prime Minister Jüri Ratas, Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš stressed that the two countries enjoy a very good and friendly bilateral relationship. It is important for Latvia and Estonia to implement regional projects in the fields of energy and transport.
“During the meeting with the Estonian Prime Minister Jüri Ratas, I congratulated him on his re-appointment to the post. We discussed our bilateral relations and cooperation in regional projects in the fields of energy and transport. We shared the view that it is important to implement the projects launched, including Rail Baltica, the synchronization of the Baltic States' electricity networks and the creation of a single gas market,” stressed K. Kariņš.
The Heads of Government discussed current EU issues, including the progress in the adoption of the multiannual budget and the strategic agenda, the further strengthening of the Single Market and the improvement of a common EU security and defence policy, recognising that both countries share common interests and cooperate closely in addressing these issues. The visit to Latvia is the first foreign visit of Prime Minister of Estonia, J.Ratas, following his re-appointment to the post.
