On Wednesday, November 2, Prime Minister Māris Kučinskis will go to Copenhagen to attend the Nordic-Baltic (NB8) Heads of Government meeting.

The agenda of the meeting includes discussing important issues for the Baltic and Nordic region as well as Europe as a whole - the Nordic-Baltic cooperation, current developments in the energy and transport sectors, strengthening the security of the region, implementation of the NATO Summit decisions in the European Union, emphasizing the Bratislava process, external relations, with particular attention paid to the issue of Russia and Ukraine, as well as the Eastern partnership.

This year Latvia is the Baltic States or B3 format presiding country, while Finland is the Nordic countries or N5 format presiding country.

Celebrating 25 years of Baltic and Nordic cooperation since the restoration of diplomatic relations, the cooperation achievements will be jointly discussed and vision for the future of The NB8 drawn.

M. Kučinskis indicates that the biggest asset of the NB8 format is the close and open dialogue on significant regional issues. "It is important that countries of the NB8 region have a united stand on the various issues that are significant for the Baltic and Nordic countries, as well as the European society as a whole. In addition, I see the potential and significant added value in close and regular dialogue between the NB8 Prime Ministers, “said the Prime Minister.
