On Wednesday 8 February, Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš visited the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Latvia to sign the Book of Condolence for the victims of the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye. The Prime Minister was welcomed by Ambassador of Türkiye to Latvia Şule Öztunç.
It has already been reported that on 7 February the government made a decision to provide the financial support of EUR 70 000 to Türkiye to address the consequences of the earthquake. The decision was taken in response to Türkiye’s request for assistance.
The funding will be granted from the state budget programme ‘Funds for Unforeseen Events’.
