On Tuesday 23 July, the Cabinet of Ministers supported the nomination of Raivis Kronbergs to the post of the Director of the State Chancellery. R. Kronbergs has 15 years’ experience in senior posts in the public administration, including 10 years’ experience as the State Secretary in two ministries - the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Agriculture. He has also received several letters of recognition and high awards for his work in the public administration. R. Kronbergs will assume his new post on 12 August.
Raivis Kronbergs commenced his career in the public administration in 2007 at the Ministry of Justice. From 2009 to 2014, he held the post of the Director of the Administrative Department of the Ministry of Justice, and subsequently – the post of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice for eight years. He has served as the State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture for the last two years, from 3 January 2022.
R. Kronbergs also has extensive expertise in overseeing the activities of state-owned capital companies in both the justice and agriculture sectors, as well as in developing cooperation between the justice and agriculture sectors and the EU institutions.
The incoming Director of the State Chancellery has received 10 letters of recognition and awards for his work in the public administration.
Raivis Kronbergs holds both a Professional Bachelor's and a Professional Master's Degree in Law. He has also earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Science.
R. Kronbergs has set the development of an efficient and professional public administration as a priority during his term of office of the Director of the State Chancellery. "It is very essential for me that the people working in the public administration are professional, motivated employees who perform their duties in delivering services at the level and quality they would like to receive in return. Contemporary public administration is inconceivable without a sense of humanity and empathy, which is often the main stumbling stone, and which we try to 'patch up' with bureaucratic orders, regulations and legislation. More targeted inter-ministerial cooperation is another area where efforts are required to ensure more efficient use of resources available in the country. The social organisations of the private sector are an invaluable partner, contributing not only to the development of competitive sectoral policies, but also to the provision of modern and high-quality public administration services."
Pursuant to the legal and regulatory framework, Raivis Kronbergs will be appointed to the post once the Prime Minister signs the draft order on his transfer to the post of the Director of the State Chancellery, which was examined at the sitting, as from 12 August 2024.
